Daniel Grote of New Model Adviser has written an article about the launch of the site which you can read below or on the NMA site by clicking here.
Nottingham-based paraplanner Martin Vaughan has launched a new website targeting members of the profession in a move he claims could see the emergence of a network for paraplanners modelled along the lines of the Personal Finance Society.
Theparaplanner.com, jointly created by Vaughan with fellow paraplanner Richard Allum, aims to serve as the first point of call for paraplanners searching for information and advice.
“We felt there was a need for a single website that was the primary source of information, where most of the answers to most the questions they have in their daily working lives would be answered,” said Vaughan, senior paraplanner at Cooper Parry.
It carries articles on investments, tax, pensions and technology, with Vaughan keen that paraplanners across the UK begin to contribute material as well as airing their views on its blogs.
“We felt there was a need for a single website that was the primary source of information, where most of the answers to most the questions they have in their daily working lives would be answered,”
Vaughan said he wanted the site to act as the venue for paraplanners around the country to meet online, adding that he aimed to develop regional groups of paraplanners that would meet in person.
‘The PFS holds forums, Citywire has them, and we want to do a similar thing for paraplanners, related to paraplanning issues,’ he said.
Vaughan claimed the new website was the first to be specifically targeted at paraplanner, and would mean they would no longer have to sift through articles of little interest to them in order to find information relevant to their jobs.
‘As a paraplanner for quite some time, it’s often frustrating to take lots of different bits of information from different websites,’ he said.
‘Paraplanners don’t want to know about how to change a business, about what sort of client they should be looking for, or about funds under management,’ he added.
Vaughan added that the website launch comes as paraplanners begin to reach a higher status in the financial planning profession.
‘The role of the paraplanner is becoming much more important, and the amount of information out there is much greater, and there needs to be some way of linking them together,’ he said.
